8 March 2013 – We bade a fond farewell to "Sam the desert Man" (A moniker given to Sam Vander Ende by Khalif Ahmid Farah, one of our Pastoralist Concern guides on our rough drive through the desert to Qundhi).  Sam returned to Addis today thinning our group to a single truck driven by Danny, plus Abdi, Chris, Bruce and Lance.  Our destination today was Hara Qallo.   En route we travelled through semi-desert alpine (and saw a rare Semien fox) in the Bale Mountains Park, also called 'The Red Fox' locally. We settled in to the Dubaf Yelimat Mahibar (DUBAF) compound and were hosted by Jemjem Udessa, executive director of DUBAF and were immediately fed a large lunch.  After discussing DUBAF projects with Jemjem we were treated to yet another traditional Ethiopian feast in the evening with a coffee ceremony, gifts (including individual books written and signed by Jemjem) and local singers who performed into the early hours of the morning.
