7 March 2013 – Travelled to Goro to visit Fekadu Genefer and colleagues from the Lutheran World Federation.  Fekadu gave a PowerPoint presentation (Goro Emergency Response and Risk Mitigation Project – The Lutheran World Federation- Ethiopian Program).  Encapsulating the meeting, CFGB provided aid (financial aid for food and about 10,000 hand tools which was delivered to 18,350 people by LWF from June to November, 2011 due to drought in Goro, Ethiopia.   We later visited a local farm group from which various farmers said the aid was timely, effective, and quite necessary.  The tools are still in use and the erosion control education learned during the work for food period has helped farmers plan future preventative measures to reduce erosion.

Following the farmers' meeting we drove to various aid sites and saw food for aid distribution sites and various erosion control efforts.  We retired at the Shebelle hotel where workers were scrambling to finish cement works and the road leading to the hotel in preparation for the Prime Minister's visit and inauguration of the new road the following day.  The hotel was quickly filling up with a large entourage, military and secret police.
